G'day everyone, I've been playing with the iphone for about a week and thought I'd share some of my own thoughts on 'things not quite right' or suggestions.

(overall however a good device for my needs)

In no particular order:

- the ability to add short-cuts to frequently used settings such as wifi, 3g, bluetooth switches, including push & fetch setting. This would save the hassle of digging through menus and ultimately battery life for many.

- a new home interface or the a method for organising apps, bookmarks on the home screens. Maybe labelled home screens ?

- Ability to see / interact with the iphone screen on the laptop could help with the above; Also ability to tether iphone to laptop and make, receive calls & sms;

- More Apple apps; so far they've only made 2! geez come-on apple you can do better then that;

- Fix up the calendar bug - ie. when you have a recurring event in ical (& in mobileme) and then delete a specific date this is of course reflected in ical & mobileme but still remains on the iphone.

- Allow landscape in mail & sms app;

- Provide better integratation with Mobileme (photo uploading; browsing)

- Provide finder application to store documents and allow document attachments Mail, and document upload through safari;

I'm sure I'll think of more, but that's all for now.

cheers

Documented to be the case on Apple forums... it even asks if ok without current certificate but no go. Hope they fix Soon.

Also - mobileme and outlook calendar does sync.

H.
Happy to report that 2.1 fixed the issue with exchange I raised earlier and mobile me now seems happy syncing iphone, work pc & macs - all good.... and Apple added free months of mobile me into the mix.... all good!

People in this thread who have what seems major iphone operational issues need to stop bitching about them, try a rebuild - if it doesnt work you have a hardware issue under warranty. It does more than any other mobile device, sure it had a rocky intro but Apple have been more than speedy giving the attention to issues in updates and will continue.... i think put it all into proper perspective 'eh ;-)

Also, the SMS alert sounds are not loud enough.

Ringtone lack of loudness - problem fixed with a custom ringtone with volume cranked up (in iTunes, before converting).
2.1 has fixed the sms feature you mention - now gives follow up tones

Would seem this may be an issue with some people - has this got better with 2.1? (battery running down overnight)

I had this battery running down overnight problem and I end up finding out it was Location Services left on, that seems to be the culprit
