Both our phones have a hardware issue? Seems a bit coincidental to me.

if the lights are out I can see a slither of light shining from behind the screen up the left side. Anyone else have this? Kinda hard to take a photo of. I bought it from Virgin over the phone, so not sure where I could take it?

When you put the iphone on silent and go into one of the apps which have sound, you end up still hearing the sound, hopefully there is a fix for this.

Apple really need to get the bugs ironed out.

This is exactly what is happening to me since the update. Running out overnight like an app is running in the background and showing hours of use when I haven't. I didn't update my wifes iPhone and hers gets many days of stanby no-probs.
There was also a reference on the last Macbreak Weekly Podcast 101 where one of the guests said their iPhone runs out of charge overnight since the update, so there seems to be a widerspread problem here.. I tried a FULL back to factory restore and have the same results.

I think mine did that in the early days. I think it resolved itself once I did a hard reset.

It's a lemon
1. First 3G iPhone - returned as it wouldn't turn off (kept re-booting) and the microphone failed
2. Signed up for MobileMe. As a formetr BlackBerry user, found it clumsy and not really useful for business use. Logged in to online help and the Apple moderator confirmed at was not designed for a business user
3. Second iPhone returned as it had poor 3G connectivity
4. Optus confirm they have many complaints to the point they actually have a specially designed form for iPhone returns, and say they find Apple really difficult to deal with and have no idea the status if repairs

My state of mind: Don't want an iPhone any more, maybe never will.
Recommendation: If you want an entertainment device, stick with iPod. If you want a phone, stick with Nokia. If you want 3G, then wait and see how things turn out, but don't but an iPhone!

I purchased my first Apple product in 1986 - a Mac Plus. Since then, I have purchased around 8 more Apple desktops and notebooks, and over recent years 6 iPods. I have great regard for Apple - until now.
You need to get a life, and see the iPhone for what it is - a lemon. Forget your blind loyalty, and open your eyes!
