I think alot of the software issues will be fixed. There has been a massive amount of work done to get the SDK stuff ready and mobile me. We could see some of these things added in a few months

No, but yes.
You need to convert them to the ringtone format. If you use a Mac then garageband can do that for you.

I got stuck in the phone app, i could switch between contacts, dialing etc, but pressing the home button did nothing so i had to reset to get out of it. Anyone come across this before.
Also the usual minor annoyances other wise a great phone.

Today my iphone has been on the blink big time.
Disconnecting, not sending messages, etc. etc. Decided to do a full restore on it. Is anyone else experiencing some delays when navigating menus and stuff? Am worried I got a dud from the store but want to know if what I'm experiencing is normal.
I can't really give any specific examples, but it just seems that the phone struggles to go in and out of applications quickly. Anybody else with that kind of problem?
Also, what's the battery life rated at? Did everyone do the whole charge before using it and then full deplete of charge? It seems like the phone doesn't charge unless it's turned on so I didn't fully charge it before unplugging it, hopefully doesnt have a lasting effect on battery life

When I get a text, and I hit reply from the popup and start typing in the actual SMS app the speed of the typing/when the characters actually appear, is really really slow. L....

if you change the file extension from .mp3 to .m4r it can be dragged into the ringtones in itunes.
i think the audio has to be less than 20 sec in length???

Not exactly a problem with the iPhone itself, but the Google maps are not as up to date as you would like.
As an example:
Directions from my home to Caville Ave in Surfers, (0.8 kms), has you turning right across concrete traffic islands at a no right turn, and still thinks Surfers Boulevard is one way. These road changes are three years old, so if you apply that nationwide......... Needs updating.

Sorry about the spelling of the last one I was writing on my iphone. I just restate;
But yeah It is really slow to pic up there is 3G around or after the abence of network (like a tunnel) it will take ages to refresh the search again. Something my old k610i was ruthlessly good at.
God help you if your on GPRS becasue it simply wont bother looking for 3G unless you tell it too.
This really isnt good enough. You say this is a world wide issue are there any links to oher people aroudn the world with this complaint?

Try a google search for iphone 3g signal strength. There's also a heated discussion going on in the Apple Support Forums on it. Evidently it's an issue of the radio not picking up changes in the surrounding network fast enough.
It's backed up by people from all over, so it's not just an Optus or Australian or Telstra thing...

I concur with that, the phone comanies need to be approaching apple and asking them for a solution. I constantly get call drop outs and no service even though i'm saturated in coverage, I know it's all because of 3g!
