so you have to access the optus portal...
hmm ok...
if u see azure somehow u have to go to the optus portal..i have to try this.
as in brisb there arent many hotspots..
really i dont needed...as i have 700mbs + 200Mb of their super pack .....but is a good to have when i travel to sydney or melb..

Note: i also spoke to the guy today and they told me that i dont need to have a username and password...it should just work...but maybe Shintaro says above makes sense..

Um...what is their Portal site? I tried on Safari on the iPhone and even on this laptop, and can't find it.

i believe u get access to their portal site only if you are accessing it via an optus hotspot and not via any other wifi hotspot

I think it's just the page which is meant to be called up when you connect to the WiFi network. (As with most other commercial hot spots)

Just attempt to go to Google, and it should re-direct you to the Optus portal page.

I'm going to try it at Hudson's coffee tomorrow.

Love this phone so much

Yeah, sorry, wasn't quite clear enough, but yeah, when connecting to a WiFi hot spot, you'll get directed to the operators portal (IE Tesltra/Optus/Azure and so on)

As noted elsewhere, we can also use Azure as well (Optus customers)

I called Optus today on this and was told it was "automatic". I'm sure this is wrong as I tried to access WIFI via Azure today in the city and after selecting Optus in a drop down menu it asked for a user id and password - which I don't have. Guess, wait a week till Optus educate their staff - as I don't want to spend 3 hours on their support line

Hi this is my first post but I spoke to Optus and you can only connect to Optus Wireless connect Hotspot for free on the iphone, Azure hotspots are excluded. When you are connected to the hotspot you get redirected to a special sign on page for Optus Iphone users and upon registration an SMS with your logon details are sent.

maya,

Perhaps you can only sign up on the Optus page?
I was told Azure will work.
Strange.

its comments like this that really annoy the piss outta me... you joined up just so you could write 'weak as piss'..

if you had half a brain you would have known about the two hot spots last week and you would have researched it - if you didn't it clearly wasn't an issue for you

if you want hot spots, join telstra... if you're just moaning leave us alone or contribute

Sheesh. Guys, everyone's entitled to free speech. Nothing wrong with saying Perth sucks for Optus wifi because it absolutely does.

However, if you're just gonna throw insults around, then keep your mouth shut and stop wasting your own time as well as everyone elses. Contribute something worthwhile, eh?
