Free WiFi is only on the Yes Plans, not the Cap Plans apparently.

You should have been asked to set up a user name & pass word when doing the sign up.
I got a user name & pass word when I signed up (For the wife), but was told fre WiFi only on yes plans, not caps.

Mmm. Not very happy that this wasn't mentioned when I signed up...

Tell me about it.
In the mass of paper work you got, it mentions the WiFi usage, so i asked the Optus big wig who was trying to sort out my (and others) sign up issues, and he said Yes plan only, not caps.

Still, my sign up included making an account for online services, so gonna try and use it for wifi

That's not what the web page at Optus says:
'yes' iPhone Cap Plans

Incorrect. See here.

Though you may be correct about needing a username and password.

Edit: Argh! Just beaten by Kevin.

According to current Optus cap plan pricing page here, optus wifi is included free.

I think it should be all good - but that doesn't answer the question of how to login!

Well, thats odd then, coz I was sure of this when i went in, and I happened to mention it when waiting for the Optus system issues to get sorted.
Thats when he told me its only on the Yes Plans.

Turds.

If you didnt create an account (user/pass) during sign up, then i think you need to wait for the first bill and do it online then.
However, no harm making Optus do some work & call them to sort it

I still don't get where the hotspots are. The link posted earlier in the thread is the 3G network, it doesn't show any Wi-Fi hotspots that I can see.

Somebody please point me in the right direction.

Cheers.

EDIT: Nevermind I found them, cheers.

Okay, just called Optus as they messed up some details (spelling mainly) on my sign up, so got that sorted and was transferred to their 'iPhone' support desk.

Was told that to access the free WiFi, to do the following,
Turn on Wifi, open Safari and it should load the Optus WiFi portal site (or whatever they called it).
If it doesn't try hitting refresh.
You should be greeted with the login in screen, click the register button, the network sees you are accessing via an iPhone and will create a User/Pass so you can get your free WiFi.

He wasn't sure if it checked against IMIE code or something else, but assured me it would work for free, as long as you accessing via iPhone only

Wonder if this will work on my original iPhone, also on Optus ???
