iPhone Number Porting/Account Creation Delays

I plugged my iPhone onto my laptop while I was in the store waiting for them to unbrick it. I need to restore it and take it back for them to unbrick. Is it possible to to this my self? I can't be fucked going back. Do optus stores have their own iTunes or something?

Shitty grammar due to posting on my old iPhone

There is a torrent on TPB which is apparently the same ver of iTunes used in store to activate (with a bit of terminal .plist modding)

Might be worth a shot??

Looks like they have a special version of iTunes that unbricks it and locks it to a given network.

Optus couldn't activate

Hi guys,

Sorry to start another thread but I need some advice.

I picked up my iphone this morning but the optus guy was having problems when creating my optus account and porting my number from three, kept coming up with an error.

So he gave me my unopened optus sim and unopened iphone and said I just needed to go home, plug it into itunes to quote "un-brick it" and then it would take 3-4 hours before my sim activated/ported...

Does that sound right to everyone? I've plugged it into itunes and done the activation stuff but get 'no service' on the phone. I always thought I'd still be able to use it, but my number would be different until it ported over....???

Yep, I was told the same thing.
I have to wait 3-4 hours also for my SIM to be activated

Yes, down here at the Apple store same problem. Wait is sooo long. Line isn't moving; the manager said the Optus servers are back up again, though.

My phone just popped up with 'Your SIM sent a text message' with an accept/decline box. Anyone else have this happen?

I accepted the text but nothing happened, still have no service.

I had that too. But I'm in the process of synching 6GB of music.....so it might be a while till I read that SMS.

Ditto that here. I think I just need to wait for my SIM to be "activated"
