I LOVE my iPhone. It's as good as I hoped but I miss my Motorola V9 form factor.

Anyone else noticing this?
I've noticed this too, but put it down to "less playing around". Maybe the battery life is intelligently adjusting to your usage?

Lithium ion batteries need an initial conditioning.

They should bee fully drained -then recharged for 12 hours

and that done for 2 to 3 times to get the most out of the battery.

Apple also recommends fully draining and recharging the battery at least once per month.

Well today i took my iphone out about around the city. I was very pleased with how it went. Started the day with a full battery, used it for music on the train to and from the city used the gps and the app store and i still have 1/4 battery life left. I'm very happy with it. Only noticed a few miner problems whic i post in the problem thread.

Oh all so, if you have a 5th gen ipod then the black pouch you get with it. Fits the iphone like a glove.

So far I'm happy with the battery life, too. I forgot to charge it last night and it's been going for 7h30min active plus 18h50min stand-by, and still has 10% charge left. It's been within 3G coverage at all times.

Cheers
Steffen.

There is no god.

I'm increasingly disappointed by the things that my previous non-smart phones have been able to do, but the iPhone can't. Why can't I insert a phone number into a SMS? Why can't I forward an SMS? It seems there is some truth in the idea that the iPhone does a few things well as opposed to doing a lot of things unwell. Small things like no search in email, can't forward attachments, lack of italics in safari, no week view in cal, no todos, no custom sms ringtones, etc. It's functionality sometime suffers at the hands of its style or design.

Just came back from the Allphones store in Eastlands, Tasmania. Picked up an 8gb iPhone. Was kinda after a 16, but I don't really mind. It's awesome. Downloaded all my contacts from MobileMe on the car ride back. Madly syncing everything now, I'm out of the house for the weekend, so it all needs to be done!

Does the GPS work outside of mobile coverage?

I can't seem to find this info anywhere: Does the iPhone 3G's location-finding GPS work outside of the mobile coverage area? I understand that A-GPS uses the mobile system to get a quicker fix on GPS satellites, but without that help, does it work (eventually)? (I realise that without data, Google Maps won't be able to download new maps, but apparently it does cache previously visited maps.)

This kind of thing is really important if you're travelling overseas. A GPS is great if you don't know a city but roaming mobile data costs a fortune. Caching tomorrow's maps is easy enough from a hotel's wi-fi -- if it's going to work. Anyone?
