No, you can redownload for free.

Lots of known issues with the current version of the iPhone:

There is more "right" than "wrong" IMHO.

Configured exchange on the office network in seconds, connected by WI FI, I have had more problems with Windows Laptops in the past.

Connected to 3 Different Access Points on each occasion, no problems.

It connected to BMW Bluetooth (the dreaded i-Drive) on an E60 in seconds, much easier than a Motorola V3 (and its successors) (officially supported by BMW Bluetooth). BMW say iPhone 3G not officially supported/tested as yet.

Call quality in the car is vastly superior to the V3 , even without using the cradle in the car.

Finally, connecting to home wireless LAN and office VPN was again painless.

For a new product (even a generation 2 issue) this is outstanding.

To state one thing that I think has improved greatly since last week is my battery life. It's really lasting now. I get a fair bit of use during the day and still have half to a bit more life left.

I recharge at night and try and let it run down to zero every few days. It's taking longer and longer to run down.

Anyone else noticing this?

You know, I swore mine was doing the same thing!

I've turned my mail syncing from every 5 minutes to every hour, I wondered if that was the case.

I just turned off wifi when I wasnt using it and it's still on about 50% life after a day. Usage statistics is 13hrs on standby and 4hrs 37mins of actual usage (includes emailing, browsing and youtube over 3g and wifi). I watched a few youtube videos on it and it's still going strong. Actually quite impressed. I would guess on average usage it'd last about 2-3 days.

I've just realised that turning off 'location services' is probably a good idea to save battery life. Forgot all about it. Other than maps and a couple apps, I tend not to use it much anyways. We'll see how much of an improvement it makes with the other stuff all turned off as well.

ghettro: 2 - 3 days sounds VERY good. I'd kind of just accepted that I'd only be getting about a day of use out of it, but with some stuff turned off when I'm not using it, a little over two days wouldn't necessarily be stretching it.

I think it just takes a bit of experimenting and learning how to manage power properly. I'm sure we'll all get used to it lol. Though I do hope a lot more companies come out with more battery packs and stuff. They need to get creative, like the mophie, but something different.

I've only had the phone for a couple of days, I can say I'm extremely happy with the device.
- Battery life is not a problem. If you compare the iphone with other mobile phones with the same usage patterns, the iphone will compare favourably. My N73 drains much quicker when browsing the web with 3g (not to mention it's slower and the experience is crap).
- Haven't had any stability/lag issues yet. I did do some pre-cautionary things I'm not sure would have helped by flashing to the latest restore firmware and wiping the contacts from my SIM card before I started.
- White one is not too bad with the finger prints. Certaintly not something I care about or notice.
- Fanastic syncing experience with the Mac. My music, podcasts, vodcasts, photos, contacts (and potentiall calendar items), all sync and so seamless.
- Watching the Guen Transfer and Good Game on the iPhone rocks.
- Some really good apps are about like the Facebook and Pownce apps. Chat on Facebook works amazingly well.
- Some great mobile sites are about. news.com.au, the age, and comsec. The latter I really hope they make into an application.
- Surprised with the location features. A-GPS is pretty accurate and very fast. Real GPS - I was amazed how quick, accurate and powerful this is. I have a $300-odd Garmin GPS/Heartrate monitor, the iPhone is alot quicker with getting a GPS lock and seems not to lose positioning under non-optimal conditions (cloud + tree cover).
- Typing on the screen is good enough. I've got chunky man fingers, but already I'm starting to get the hang of it (just type and let the phone correct you). The obvious drawbacks are you can't blind press (which I do on my ipod to change to skip), and it's much harder to type when you walk (which I do a bit on my mobile). But these are things I can easily change my habits around.

This is the device that I've always wanted, so I'm happy was pie.

Really excited about all the new apps in the future, particularly location based apps. Both myself and the partner have an iphone, and when push notifications come out, I can see Twitter/Pownce/etc replacing sms very quickly.

One thing I'd love to have is a "sleep" function on the iPod section, I like to listen to it at night going to sleep and it'd be great if the phone could turn off after a designated time (without putting the screen back on, otherwise I'll wake up at 1am !)...while still being in the dock and charging.

It works great with the audio output to the lineout which goes to my mini hifi.

The 'sleep ipod' selection in 'Timer' (clock app) doesn't do this?
