I bought one today from Optus in Rundle Mall. They had 3 left of the 16GB and 4 left of the 8GB available for prepaid purchase. But once they're out they won't be getting any more for atleast a month apparently

Hey guys,
FINALLY I HAVE MY HANDS ON A PRE-PAID 16GB BLACK !!!
I you are looking for a pre-paid iPhone, pls refer to the info below. I think some other stores should also have the stock, try calling:
- Optus world Campbelltown, NSW. - 16Gb black
- Strathfield, Sydney City- 16Gb black
- Optus World, Hay Market NSW - White 16GB & 8GB Black
The above have around 6-8 phones (each store).
Good luck guys !!!

Nice scoop, HoneyBee! I am a regular at Burwood Westfields so this is a nice thing to know they have stock available for prepaid.
Cheers!

Telstra T-Life on George Street in Sydney is claiming that as of 1st of September, the policy has changed and they are no longer selling iPhones outright, even to Telstra customers. Can anyone else confirm?

Sorry forgot to post, but last Thursday I bought a 16gb White iphone on prepaid from the Telechoice in Brunswick along Sydney Rd. Might still have it. Worth giving them a call.

+1 interested in this. I just went to the telstra shop here to sign up for a new business plan and get a 2nd phone so that my fiance and i can have free calls between us, but they don't have any 16gb ones left and they were very unwilling to sell one to go on any plan apart from their prescribed iphone plans which aren't very good
So I'm definitely interested in buying one outright and unlocking it, I guess I'll have to scour some Optus stores...

Which store was that - out of interest.
I'm thinking of heading into the city and trying the Telstra/Optus stores there - to see what i can come up with! Surely somewhere has a few left to buy Outright/Prepaid.
