You can cancel your raincheck contract if you haven't received your iphone, so you are not 'stuck' with them at all.

I signed up today for a raincheck on black 16gb with Optus. My number has been ported and the new sim is in my existing Nokia & working fine, so I wouldn't say you can't use the service - only the 3G part of it if your existing phone is not compatible.

IMO, the Optus 12 month plans are good value. To buy a 16gb outright is $849. A $29 yes plan with 250mb of data & the option of 22c talk & text is only $123 more. I think that's pretty good value. And after 12 months the phone is mine, unlocked for free and I can go to any carrier I choose.

Optus World at Fountain Gate quoted 2-3 weeks for my phone. Fingers crossed.

Wow there's a lot of angry/frustrated people out there. I too would like an Optus iPhone and am having trouble finding one, but unlike some I'm happy to wait for the restock. I've managed to get by without one for years so whats a few extra weeks? Some perspective please people.

I have driven past the Sydney Apple Store a few times but to be honest I am really not 'down' with queuing for several hours for a phone. My Nokia still works fine, so what if I'm not the first one in my office with the iPhone? From some of the reactions on this thread you'd think we were on death's door and waiting on donor organs. Its consumerism at its ugliest.

I just got off the phone with OPTUS (signed the damn contract), they only got 16GB white coming on 29th July, whoever wants the 16GB Black got to wait until 9th SEP.

My Mac still might have stock, they did yesterday on Optus plans.

Just picked up my 16gb Whitey from My Mac in Bondi Junction. Got the last 16gb model left but they are expecting more stock soon. Still some 8gb left.

Best of all no Queue!!! Queueing at the AppleStore is for suckers! Definitely recommend them to anyone still looking.

Went to MyMac Melbourne today, was told yes they have iphones in stock, but you must have an ABN. When I said I heard someone bought one there without an ABN I was told "Optus changed their policy from the 1st week to the 2nd week. We now 100% have to have an ABN." Strange that this is what I was told, I thought this was always their policy - that's what I had read on here, but I thought I'd give it a shot anyway. Anyway, I'll get over it, I've waited this long I can wait some more!
