Yup, that's true, but if they followed up with you, you would have to have some plans to show them which would prove your intention.

I have tried contacting Optus SMB customer service but keep getting transferred in circles.

My question is, if I sign up on a consumer iPhone plan on Friday, will I be able to transfer to an equivalent business iPhone plan when they are released?

I was told yes just now by Optus.

Just called my local Optus dealer - they know less than we do.

What number should I ring to speak to someone in the business department about the iPhone? I'm already on a business plan with Optus...

Given the email I got, I would suggest that no one will know until July 28th. What number should you ring? There probably isn't a number unless you've already got a business rep.

I thought that would be the answer.

As you can do the same thing now with the standard phone plans...

Only difference should be is that your 24 months plan contract will restart from the day you transfer to the business plan

my mother is account holder and the guy at optus suggested and signed us up to a business plan. they even made our abn for us. i ask if it was fine and they said it was. the contract is about to end and there hasnt been any probs.

ive even seen telechoice advert on banners "we make your abn" something like that.

Basically, when you sign up to an iPhone consumer plan, tell them you wish to go to business plans when they come out, and they will note down the ABN number etc and sort it out when that happens. That's what I've been told by Optus (central) twice on two separate days (I wanted to confirm).

i calculate OPTUS PLAN.
Im going to take iphone 16GB on $19 Plan for 12 Months .
$59(mobile)+$19(plan) for 12 months
$78 X 12 =$936
unlocked iPhone and used My three Number

i think its better then BUY it UPfront ($849+$80'Recharge')
its just like BUYing iphone First day and make this pay it in installment.
Cheers

That's true.

I live with a person who's company looks after the Optus account. They have a pretty cool name (campaign-wise...you'll know what I mean if the campaign makes it through the Tel$tra legal obstacle course) to go with the new plans that are soooooo much better than the ones already released.

I was trying to hint at the Vodafone thread to throw off the scent a bit. But now that they sent you an e-mail I guess Optus is fine letting people know that there will be better plans. Only problem was that this person did not know if the new plans also applied to the iPhone. But that e-mail confirms that it does

I wasn't going to to wait because I thought Vodafone would come through...hopefully there will be change of plans from them soon, but that is looking less likely.

I was really hoping not to have to switch to Optus because I've witnessed so many shocking customer service incidents its not funny. Looks like I'll be switching my business plan after all.

You'll save $5 if you buy upfront.

Financial planners will probably get a heart attack with your credit plans

ive read some people ordering their iphone through optus sales over the phone. and then get their iphone shipped to them.

for those people that have done it that way. are you guys already signed up on the contract once you order over the phone? making that day you ordered it the first day of your billing month on that new contract? or will it start on the day you receive your iphone?

I ordered though Optus SMB on Friday morning. To be honest I don't know the answer to your question. I didn't think to ask about contract starting dates when I ordered the phone because the possibility didn't even cross my mind, haha. Mind, I *should* get my phone tomorrow morning and if so I won't be so fussed if four days of contract have been paid, even though I agree completely that to do so is very bloody rude.
