i still wonder what the T&C will include for 'data usage'.... either general browsing, or does it have to be all 'zoo'?

It's an email from a sales rep. It tells you absolutely nothing, is full of questionable statements, and is designed to get you exited. it seems to have done that.
I would keep it on file and pull it out in 12 months, then you will be able to go through it with him and point out all the previously mentioned, "Telco crapola" it contains.

pre-selling 60,000 and supplying 60,00 are two very different things

Yeah, with what I've been told today, I find it very hard to believe as well. I have a very strong feeling that alot of us will be very disappointed on Friday.

Surely there's some kind of law against doing it without actually running a business?

Hmm am not sure if there is a law or not, my partner runs his own business, maybe he could check with the accountant.

Not that I know of. A lot of people register ABN's in the hope of starting a business...and then don't follow through for whatever reason. You don't have to register for GST or anything drastic like that.

Yup, you have to be a sole trader running a business or trading in some way to do it as an individual (if you set up a company then you need a TFN and there's all sorts of tax and GST stuff).
