I'm gonna grab the 16GB. My library and then some will fit in that, and by the time I've done with this contract something around 64 GB should be out where I'd be much more comfortable than having to wait til 32GB.

True...I guess if you plan using the video part of the iphone extensivly it would be a good idea to wait...but who really wants to watch video on such a little screen when a MBP is so beautiful...

people on buses and trains ect I guess....

32GB+ would be nice, then it could replace my iPod full stop.

3. 32GB iPhone 3G on the horizon
I was keenly disappointed when Steve Jobs didn't unveil a 32GB iPhone last month—indeed, all we got were 8GB and 16GB versions, and I'd personally like an iPhone that I could cram with as much music and video as I can stand. Here's the thing, though—a 32GB iPhone 3G is probably coming within the next six months, if not sooner (well, that's my guess). If I wasn't buying the 16GB iPhone 3G for Yahoo! Tech, I'd probably sit tight and wait for the 32GB version to arrive.
And when that arrives we'll all be asking when a 48 Gb or 64 Gb version will arrive... and one with a 5 megapixel camera... those will only be 12 months from now...

There is only ever one 'right' time to buy technology - when you have a need for it. If you wait for the next model that looks better you'll spend your life waiting... 'cos they'll always be a better model just over the horizon.

To me 16gb is be enough for me. Sure 32 would be good and yeah if and when it comes out i will get one. But for now 16gb will do me fine.

I won't touch anything with Windows Mobile on it. Ever since a HTC Touch, there is no way I'll go back to that crawling interface.

I shall see how the 3G model is received before making a decision. My 1st Gen one is just great for the time being. If there were native support for changing alert tones, then i'll queue up for it.

See i get 3g for some things like web browsing and downloading. But as the iphone dose not have video calling, what are the benefits of 3g voice calling.

If there were native support for changing alert tones, then it would be part of the software update which your 1st gen iPhone will get anyway (don't even kid yourselves that this won't be happening within a week of its release!)

I'll be sticking with the original one mostly just because I don't need the extra speed of 3G, nor the convenience of the GPS and I have a work-paid plan and therefore don't want to shell out for the outright price.

If I needed a new phone with a plan however, I'd jump all over one at around the $79 pricepoint with a decent serve of data.

With NextG, reception range. It far exceeds GSM across Australia and is the only way that you can get a phone to even come close to CDMA coverage that some people relied upon. The actual quality of the voice etc will not be improved but you'll be able to use it as a phone in more places, not to mention as a fast mobile internet device.

But the reception range is the greatest asset of the 3G on NextG for mine.

Yeah but come on Yahoo are always more friendly towards Microsoft products.
They are plugging the HTC calling that the future, seriously it still runs on Windows for a 'start'.

I must admit, I was looking forward to a 32GB version too,
but I figured, I'll only keep this iPhone for a month and then upgrade when a newer one comes out in a year. Plus, with how often I use my computer its not really THAT much of a hassle to re-sync different movies or music once I am bored with them. How many times are you going to watch a movie on your phone? I watch it once and then take it off personally. If I want to watch it again, I'll put it back on again that night.

It runs Windows mobile. :/

The other reasons are valid, but by some of that logic, you should never buy something because something better will always be out soon.

I've owned the Diamond. It's no iPhone. The shortest life of any phone I've owned.
