i asked at one store ? he reckons midnight when i asked about stock he said we are getting heaps we will have the most in melbourne.

I dropped by the Optus store (ground level) and Optus island thingy (top floor) at Southland in Victoria tonight and the store person said they're not opening early as far as he knows and the island guy said they'll be opening early.
I didn't ask either for information on priority queuing and whatnot and I have no idea if the two guys I spoke to are anything other than floor staff.
EDIT: There's also a Telechoice at Southland but they'd already shut for the day. Didn't ask at any of the non-optus places.

Probably going to go to Parramatta Optus World, then it's only a quick run down to the Telstra or Vodafone stores if something goes wrong :P Hope I don't have to be in a queue for too long, I've got work early that morning, new boss sure doesn't like lateness :P

Note to anyone getting their iPhone then going straight to work - make sure you have your Mac (or PC) with you if you can, otherwise it'll burn a hole in your pocket/bag all day.

If the George Street one is opening at midnight, that suits me as I finish work at 11pm on Thursday. I will wait and see what Optus says when they call me, hopefully it will open at that time and the queues aren't too long.
The guy at Strathfield Car Radio told me that Optus would be phoning everyone who has paid their deposit to Optus and will be asking us what store we want to collect our phone from (ie. so no need to queue.) That would be great if it's true.

Is the 'Island' store you're talking about the Strathfield Store outside Big W or the larger Optus Store on the 3rd level (also basically outside Big W). I went to the large store on Saturday and spoke to a young guy who basically said the same (clueless) thing. Seemed to know about the Deposit scenario though. (not that I care)
Would it be worth going to Southland? |
