Walking up to the Optus store at lunch today and flat out asking what time they are opening the store on Friday.
The whole guessing game thing is getting really old, 4 days from launch.

well optus are entitled tog ive someone else the handset after 24 hrs if that people who paid a deposit dun come and not all of them will i have my deposit but i will i think alot of people didn't do it because they thought the pages was unsecure

If anyone is interested in taking my deposit spot in the line or whatever they do, it might be up for grabs as I'll have to stick with Telstra. Umm, contact me and perhaps we can work something out. It's difficult as I don't even know what Optus have planned.

I spoke to a Strathfield store yesterday and they thought I should just turn up 9am on Friday and get one - I suppose the quieter out of the way stores are less likely to have a queue of iPhone hungry delinquents clamoring for their fix

I've paid a deposit for two iPhone's on Optus - will be rocking up to a store somewhere in Sydney many hours before store open time.
Just wish there was more info to define where they will have stock and what time they will open (and if I should bother with Optus at all if Telstra or Vodafone pull their fingers out and give us plan info).
So - one deposit place for a phone is open if someone wants it - but you'll need to come line up with me wherever I choose to line up (somewhere between Kellyville and North Sydney is my guess).

Unfortunately, I have to work on Friday ... and I don't know yet where ...
If I can be close to a store, I'll try my luck; if not, I'll call around on Saturday when I will have more time to go to a store.
So, basically, hope and pray
