Optus iPhone Plan / TCO Calculators

A user over at Whirlpool (mcshaggy75) posted this Optus plan calculator.

Optus iPhone Plan breakdown calculator

Its pretty comprehensive and allows you change lots of variables and also see whether the Yes Talk + Text or Yes Text options would be best in your situation.

What do others think?

Cheers, motef

[Edit - I'll also add this total cost of ownership calculator, which sets out how much the TCO is on each of the plans if you decide to terminate early or if you see through the entire contract term:

Is it just me, or is there a mistake on the $59 Yes plan? The total monthly cost should be $66.

it is a nice little app.

Shows the best value for me is either the 59 or 79 yes cap plan.

Hmmmmm unless im working it out wrong, on a $49 pm plan its cheaper for me to go 12months instead of 24months ????? I must be doing something wrong, or the way its advertised makes u feel like its cheaper to go 12months, cause thats how I saw it originally.

Thanks motef - I've also added our own TCO / early termination cost calculator to your original post so that it's easy to find.

The only thing I want to know is does it take into consideration the 'flagfall' for each call. I know its only a small cost in the overall cost of a call, but it all adds up.

Out of boredom and dissatisfaction with this calculator I'm currently working on my own, drawing on all the data I've collected for my tables.

I'm including data in mine also (to account for any excess charges) which is a crucial detail missing in this version.

Hard thing is dealing with the stupid Yes plans and their add on options.

It will adapt very well to any new plans released on whatever carrier.

Could never release though, the way it works means it doesn't function very well at all when exported to Excel, so may only work if opened in Numbers, limiting its usefulness.

I'd love a Numbers version if you have it.
