I called my local Allphones she said they are honoring those deposit things and I can actually come in and do some paper work and be on a list of which there is currently 2 people. Then on Friday it gets processed according to the people on the list. I asked how many they were getting and she said they haven't been told but they were hoping for about 10ish. *prays* So....I think I might go in tomorrow and do some "paperwork" which involves ID and stuff.

In Optus' case it'll be so they can pre-sign people up on contracts after the initial stock is all gone.

Also, even if you only have 10 to sell you'll need some time to sign people up and activate them. Assuming a very quick 15 minute turnaround you'd be looking at 2.5 hours just for ten iPhones.

Grrr

no such word as "pre-order". Hate to be the pedant of the forum but it's just an "order".

If deposit holders have priority and phones have been ordered for them then how could they miss out unless they know that stores will sell to a first-in-best-dressed policy?

Hey,

Does this mean you have to wait around on Friday until they call you - what if you have a job :-/?

They're just reposting the Smarthouse BS.

Although the shortages are probably real, don't count that story as another source.

I spoke with few Optus World Stores - consensus is that all will be "first-in-best dressed" scenario, HOWEVER, they all stressed that deposit holders will be given priority. There will be security at the larger OWS and from the email I received from Optus, 2 queues. Once deposit holders are all processed, then the other queue for non-deposit holders will be processed. So chances are slim, since most don't know how much stock they will have (haven't received them yet), but estimates are 30-50 iPhones per store - and I'm guessing even less for resellers.

Telechoice had a waiting list and their order have been allocated already. But the main OWS said "first-in-best-dressed" policy.
