Exactly what rmor10 said, they are not released to anybody till the 11th regardless if staff need training.
They would have the latest vision software but not the physical handset.

I walked past the Apple Store Sydney today too and saw about 10 HUGE iPhones in the windows. They are LCD screens in the shape of iPhones with a DVD running showcasing iPhones features. They look awesome. Well worth a visit to the store to see them (if you live locally!).

Jus got off the phone with a local Strathfield store. Lady was reading an email from their Head Office she had just received:
"Unless clients have paid a deposit in store, advise there will be no surplus stock until at least Monday".
So, there you have it. No deposit - no iphone for you!@

ok so I am in canberra now and went to the flagship store which is in the centre shopping district and the lovely assistant there said and I quote they dont know if they are openning @ 7am or Midnight as they have to have permission from HQ to change their store openning times unquote which at the moment are 9am to 9pm but I said if you have a midnight launch then poeple can still go to work the next morning and let the general public have the normal times, she was going to pass it on to Hq and see. Otherwise she said to call the shop at 9am on friday. Ok Anthonyy now I am like you I am starting to get really excited and cant wait!!

I'm going into the city tomorrow (live on North Shore) and have to go to the Apple Store because of a faulty iPod, so I will check out these iPhones.

So, are optus staff getting a good deal on the iphone? Anyone care to comment and make the rest of us look jealous?

Any chance you could "pop back" and take some exclusive pics?
Edit: Never realized how off topic this thread has become.

Optus staff get no preferential treatment whatsoever. They had to pay the deposit like the rest of us and have to queue like the rest of us. As far as Optus are concerned, they're just another customer.
No need to be jealous
