Well if the iphone was not meant to be sold in the apple store, it would not be listed on the online apple store. Which tells me it will be.

so really, did the deposits actually do anything? expecially if the stores arent waiting for you to get in there and get one.
|
The deposit allow those people to get their iPhone at midnight launch (if there is one) or 7am. People without paying deposit will have to wait till 9am. I guess after 9am, it is anyone's phone.

That's significant!! Maybe you will be able to hook up with a pre-paid unlocked model there soon.

I then put up the question that I am not one of those deposit people and will be in font, will you sell the phone to me ?
Sales girls reply: Yes, we will. We wont be waiting for the deposit people to come all day. If we have stock we wont hold it back for anyone special, we will sell it.
|
Can you elaborate on this? This will be after 9am right?

I do agree with the above as one optus employee said the same to me. So basically, if a deposit guy walks in at 9 or 10am, he joins the queue.

Pfft, I could have told you that, if you keep checking the site, you'll find your answer either way. Doesn't mean anything.

The above makes sense to me. I didn't pay the deposit. I'm going pre-paid. Will line up early I guess

Ok, between now and Friday Optus is going to be sending out an email with stores/opening times and instructions. Can we just wait until then before deciding anything, all the speculating we're doing now is just going to go out the window then anyway.

Nothing I know of, but I have spoken two different Optus world employee's and both of them have talked down the possibility of obtaining an iPhone on July 11 - stating that most of the phones had been pre-allocated.
Both stated August was more likely.
That means to me that the best chance it to be in the first few in line at the 9am wider opening.
I'm not a raving loon willing to stand in front of a shop for 5 hours before opening in the vague hope of getting a product that, in a short while will likely be extremely abundant.
On the other hand, I actually need a new mobile phone now - and waiting until August or later does not appeal.

Sales girls reply: Yes, we will. We wont be waiting for the deposit people to come all day. If we have stock we wont hold it back for anyone special, we will sell it.
- One store said that they should have stock also for the walk ins. others said, it will be tight, chances are not.
Then went to the apple store here in Sydney:
Will you sell iPhone on the 11th ?
Reply: May be, not sure yet, but come next week and you might see some changes in the store.
None of the Apple employes said out right NO. All said don't know, we hope so. If they were not going to sell, my guess is that thy would have just said NO we wont be. I'm taking their MAY BE as a YES they will sell the iPhone on the 11th.
What say you ???

This just says that apple store employees have no idea. I'm sure they are taught to keep up hype and never disappoint a customer. I'd be surprised to see an unlocked model selling via the online or sydney store on launch day, just IMHO.

Hey guys
I don't quite understand the pre-paid plan. Does it mean that I have to use turbo cap, what about other pre-paid plans? Thanks for help~~
