Optus World Rhodes: Told me no idea of stock until on the day, open normal time. But Priority will go to deposit holders. Lady wasn't sure of how it was going to work.

I just got back from a optus world shop, Very helpful they where. Ok, from what I saw on the optus training memo is. The data in the cap plans are for web browsing. Which I and the person that served me, believe that is just for the optus zoo, Which we later got confirmed by the manager. There was nothing in there about using safari or youtube viewing. As well as the phone having no mms. However they did hint on it might came as an update in the next few months. Though Apple or the telcos I don't know.
All so if you are wanting a black or white iphone, then again there is no confirmation on which colors there getting

Well if you want to be at the front of the line, I think you will need to be there a couple of hours before. If I'm going to be there at like, 4AM, I may as well get there at 11PM and just sleep out for a bit
Stock will be allocated based on where those who registered early say they will be picking it up from, so I am not expecting a lot of stock at each store. Hopefully they still honor their deposit thingy, so *maybe* if I get to Watergardens at 6AM (first train in), I won't miss out.
Seeing as they're both in shopping centers, I don't know how it will work in regards to queuing up. Might have to line up outside the nearest entrance and then when it opens, hope everyone remembers their spot in the line.
Or maybe I should just go line up in the city (Collins and Elizabeth) - catch the last train in, catch the train home.
Argh, too confusing!

will try Solutions Plus again later on in the week, maybe when Vodafone release their contract details lol!!

Yeah that's a thought. My partner and I are on the same account, he really is eligible for a no BS upgrade, we've been with Optus forever, we're most likely going to our usual mobile store, etc. Maybe they can cut us a deal If not....... we can go to Voda depending on plan
/Pretty rude seeing as AT&T aren't even gouging via upgrade fee.

My refund received yesterday - ANZ Visa, Cust # in the 400's.
Hoping this is just the planned refund as last night also received the email asking me to nominate the Optus store (went for Brisbane Queen St as it's close to work) Hope the crowd is not too big.
Am thinking of pre-paid 16GB black but really hate the 30 day expiry on prepaid credit. Still think it's better to be free of contracts if possible as I travel a lot & may wish to change telcos depending on where I end up.

Is web browsing not synonymous with web browsing? This would truly suck if it wasn't (say) 500mb of 'real' data, but I can't imagine it not being like this.

LOL. Just got off the phone with my Optus customer service employee. He had no idea that Optus was refunding everyone's deposits! He's going to check if his has been refunded.
The problem he alluded to is that there is a new iPhone team set up, but no one has any idea where they are, or what they do. Each department are given only instructions relating to their business with the iPhone, e.g. if you deal with just billing, you get iPhone related billing news. Nothing more.
The ones who really know what's going on are the marketing team, AND sales personnel AT the launch date. So most employees really have no idea, and know what we know.....or get told!
So I guess we will have to wait next week to find out what is going on....

It's not an allowance for Zoo, Zoo is charged seperately, it even says so on the prices site. 2.2c/kb for Zoo, rest goes into your data.

And all the time taken with asking questions! We (who are reasonably au fait with technology and Apple) ask plenty. Imagine the great unwashed! Dire straits indeed....

No, Nobody knows who will have stock.
An email will be out before release with a list of participating stores and launch details.
Just wait.

I just called the store we nominated, apparently the phones will be waiting for us. That's why they asked us to nominate a store.
