These are actually really reasonable pricing plans. I'm very surprised. Even the Pre-Paid plans are quite good.

Not too bad prices on the pre-paid, looks like I'll be getting a 16GB after all
Might still go with Voda though...

8GB iPhone Outright (on any network) = $809 = $729 + $80
16GB iPhone Outright = $849 + $80 = $929
Tempting to port to Optus on a Cap now and keep my 3 phone to call others on 3.

Looks like they're doing something to semi-reserve it for us. They said it assures nothing, but it's a good start to making sure the 11th goes smoothly!

Again with the confusing terms. What the hell is MyCredit, MyBonus and MyTime money? Does it really add up to $370 worth of calls?
Oh right, now I see why pre-paid is more expensive. 78˘/m vs ˘40c/m. Hmmm…
Fork... why can't mobile pricing be comprehensible to someone without a physics degree?

The minimum total cost over the 12 or 24 month plan is set out in table above.
Handset costs are additional. If you choose to pay the cost of your handset by the monthly handset payment option or choose a 12 or 24 month plan and you cancel your Optus Mobile service or it is disconnected for any reason, or you switch carriers within your minimum term (“Termination”) you will be required to pay the remaining amount on your phone, if any, plus applicable “Termination Fees”.
|
So as i read that, taking the 12 month " yes' iPhone Cap Plan" costs of
24 month Minimum Total Cost of $456 and 24 month Initial Termination Fee of $400, totally $856, you need to add the handset costs, which total $612 (8gb) and $732 (16gb).
So all up, signing upto Optus and immediately canceling ..
8gb will cost $1,468
16gb will cost $1,558

Current Optus Wi-fi locations here...

Azure locations here... (not sure if they're included in the "free" wi-fi, though)
Azure Wireless - Accessing the wireless internet service hotspots.
No good for me in Subiaco. Bummer. But maybe with the intro of the iPhone there'll be a lot more incentive for locations to sign up (to gain trade from passing iPhone users).
