Yeah, that's what I meant, my bad. I just assumed we all knew the 2G would work wherever there is any reception at all.

I think you will find the supported frequency for the iPhone by Optus will not be available from their whole network. Especially in regional areas.

TOPICS DISCUSSED TO DEATH:
*2100MHz vs 900MHz
*3G Coverage Areas
*WiFi Hotspots
*Where we can buy iPhones
Please do not post, for both my own and many others insanity old information to the above topics as its just becoming redundant. If you have new information or going to discuss other topics, i.e. the plans, which one you are going for and why, then go for it!

Hey guys,
Thanks for all yuour inputs.
I'm still confused regarding the below though. Any help??
"The pre-paid plans that optus are offering for the iphone expire after 30 days, so really you will have to buy credit once a month. taking that into account, the $19 Yes Plan is the cheapest over the two years ($816) and the cheapest pre-paid (buying credit once a month for two years) comes out at $1449."
- I still dont understand, as to how can the plan expire in 30days. Whats the whole point ? Is that they want you to keep buying credit over the monthly $19 payment ?
- How much is the handset for ? I mean the $19 plan over 12 months is $228 and 24 months is $456 as mentioed in the table.
- Do you guys think for some one like me the best option will be to buy outright as currently my $30 credit lasts me nearly 2 months if not more ???
Cheers

I think you're a little confused. The $19 Yes Plan has NOTHING to do with Pre Paid. The $19 Yes plan is a contract/post-paid plan.
A prepaid iPhone is $729 for 8GB up front, and you need to recharge every 30 days to avoid periods where you can't make any outgoing use of your phone.
The minimum recharge value is $30, which means over 12 months the phone will have cost you $1086, and that's with Zero data.
Prepaid really is a bad deal.
EDIT: Arrgh! Why doesn't the forum ever forget the multiple quotes I did ages ago?

I just got the same information from a Optus World store here in Brisbane. Anyone who paid a deposit should be fine.

Good plan NeoRicen, but what about the Virgin $15/GB? Wouldn't you end up with more coverage and a better deal to go that way?

Looks like I'll be getting up early on the 11th. But of the 10k-ish pre-orders not all will go with Optus, and not all will care enough to bother getting there at 7am. And I hope most people go for the 8GB, leaving more of the black 16GB models.

All the polls I've seen have the 16GB Black 3 to 1 favourite over the others. Hopefully the plans will have sorted the wheat from the chaff a bit.

Forgot about that. Although I am afraid of the excess charges, given that 3's are 10¢ a MB but Virgin's are $15 a MB.
Decisions decisions.

I filled out the poll that came in the latest Optus email.
So hopefully they have looked at the results and they have some idea.
