Handset Locking: The Apple iPhone 3G is locked to the Optus network. Optus can only unlock iPhones purchased from an Optus outlet within Australia. For Mobile Account customers only who wish to use their iPhone on another network, please call Optus on 133 713.

few things
1. Why would anyone chose the $19 iPhone "yes" plan over the "cap" plan.
2. I don't quite understand what the total monthly payments would be, and the upfront cost. The way I understand it - there are no upfront costs, but you have to pay the plan+monthly handset repayments. Is this correct?
In that case, does that make the cheapest plan the 24 month $19 Cap plan + $21 month payment loan = $40?

Nope, I went for a look but couldn't find a link to it anywhere. There is a possibility that this wasn't meant to be released yet.

Also - the 12 month contract handset repayment price is pretty huge, why isnt' it simply double what the 24 month contract is?

To force us to stay with them for 24 months. Looks like I'll be on a 24 month contract.
Is it free to upgrade from $49 cap to $59 cap, if say I initially sign up on the $49 cap and realise I want 500mb of data? And how will month handset repayments work if I did that?

Mobile plans do my head in. It looks like the $59 cap plan will be the best one for me. I use medium calls, medium text and are likely to spend a lot of time on the internet. Would I be better off with the $59 yes plan instead?

If I understand the plan correctly, on a $19 plan on a 12 year control the TCO (including handset repayments) is $816. On NeoRicen's analysis that is the cheapest in the world so far.

All looks pretty reasonable... except for the inability to add extra data allowance.
Like the free Optus Wifi, but it's only useful to me when I'm in the CBD... which is only once/twice a week at best.
And the wifi has a cancellation clause that's interesting:
They will cancel the service if "there is an unusually high use of the Service"
So if it goes really well, no more WiFi???? Bizzare!

Is it just me or do you need an astrophysicist to explain those plans?

Could somebody please explain the difference between a 'yes' plan and the completely different other 'yes' plan?

I can't see how the Yes Plans are better than the Yes Caps though.... why would you take lesser allowance (seriously)?
