Not yelling at you, mate! I was just astounded that there was that posibility - Remember I'm not from here so don't know if pricing has to include GST or not. Hence the ?!?!?!?!
As for the others that have totally taught me a lesson.... It took me a while to post so I missed to confirmation that it did include GST but I corrected it asap.
Hat's off to you all for taking me down a peg or two though

Nope, on the day it will still cost you $729, but you get your $100 pack 5 days later.

No. Your deposit will be repaid to you in a week after release whether you purchase or not. It does not go towards your purchase.

Reading the T&C - you still pay the $729 price and get the $100 re-credited to the credit/debit card it came out of within 5 days. bah...beaten!

I have one question for you guys. I do intend on purchasing a 8GB on PrePaid with optus. y question is:
I currently have an Optus number with Prepaid, and im happy with the "deal" they give me. So, can I purchase the iPhone or $729, ditch the sim they give me (not register it) and chuck in my other optus prepaid sim?
|
Well besides the offensive display name, yes you'll be able to ditch the SIM, as long as your other SIM is Optus (as the iPhone will be locked to Optus. Though I'm not sure about not registering it. But you'l miss out on the very handy data, the iPhone is going to chew through data.

Or, if I do register the new sim, are there any on going charges?Or I just recharge when I want? Never heard of a CAP with prepaid before, thats all.
If someone can tell me, thanks!!

Yes, you can jus bang in your existing sim card
Nah, there is no on going fees if you register the new sim card, it will be a new phone number thou. 6 month count-down for free unlocking starts the day you activate that sim card.
HOWEVER, my recommendation, call up optus and say you are doing a "handset upgrade". They will deactive the sim it comes with and give you a credit of $10 (yes, piss all) to your existing sim. This also starts the 6months count-down for when you can unlock the phone for free (typically, it is 6 months from when you activate the sim card it comes with, but by doing a handset upgrade, it counts that as the start time)
BUT, i'm not sure if they will still give you that free one months data if you do the handset upgrade (because this is all new and ~exciting)
ALSO, you will be best to use a 3G sim card with the new iPhone. The one in the box will DEFINATELY be a 3G Usim, i dunno what yours will be now... but you can do the handset upgrade and use the new Usim card instead of your exsisting sim. Just make sure you explain that to the person on the phone when you do it
EDITED: to TRY to make it more clear... my apologies if its a bit confusing, but hey thats telco's finer workings for you...

The Optus plans have more fine print details than a life insurance contract. Kinda is worrying if you miss one fine detail and a stinking big bill arrives.

No mention of Enterprise and how they'll handle the whole "Blackberry" type data. All lumped into one total I assume?

Yeah, Optus don't offer their own Exchange servers for their customers to use, however they have BIS servers (which is what you're paying for when you choose a BlackBerry Add-On)
