They're the folks that can help you. Just be *nice* to them. They're usually very accommodating. Especially if you're a long-term high-value customer. I have to call them and see what they'll do for me I still have 10 months left to run on my current contract

pre-paid: way to expensive IMO

Do keep in mind you have to pay for all usage AFTER you fork out 729/849. and there is bugger all data included in the turbo charge option.

Unfortunately I cant remember how much off the top of my head, and coz their server has died in the ass i can quote and figures... but its not much. like serriously not much...

EDIT: prepaid finally loaded and i retract my statement. $50 turbo charge gets you 500MB data, whereas $49 Cap gets you 250MB. Thats quite interesting aswell...

Also prepaid has a cheaper call rate for the same $49/$50 comparission

Cap: 40c/30sec - to be 80c/min + 35c connect
PP: 78c/min + 35c connect

I know its only two cents... but double the data? mmm... thats interesting...

God I'm not looking forward to attempting to wad through this crap again.
I hear you. I want me a 1gig data plan with $200 worth of calls. Stupid Optus.

Can someone explain to me why a consumer friendly free-market style way of paying a flat fee for a service without having to worry about usage would be a bad business model for a telco?

Which would allegedly be...?

I wonder if it's worth getting prepaid for $850, then jailbreaking and going with Virgin, as it's only $15 per 1GB per month.

I have never seen/read anything about that. But I don't have an iPhone yet to check. A quick Google search didn't come up with anything.
