Just a quick question. I have had a look andcant seem to find it here. In optus t&c it saysitunes requires a usb cable or a wifi hotspot.
Does this mean that you cant use itunes on the normal 3g service???

No, you can't. It's the record companies, they don't want you to have access to their music over the mobile network.
In case you didn't know, the iTunes they're talking about is the Music Store on the phone, not the desktop app.

You can't for music because most of the record companies wanted to charge extra to download music over mobile networks. You can download applications under 10 MB on mobile networks for what it is worth, anything larger has to be done through a desktop, I believe...
Edit... Was beaten by Neo...

"can I "upgrade" to another, more expensive plan"
As I understand it, you can upgrade plans at any time, but you won't benefit from the cheaper handset prices as if you had signed from the beginning. Better to go a slightly dearer plan up front.

Yup...and after 6 months you can even downgrade (with some conditions). Read the T&C's. Pretty flexible, to a point.

Apologies if this has been covered.
But it all looked good until I noticed in the T&C for the yes cap:
"You are not able to view your monthly usage prior to receiving your bill."
Does anyone know any ways around this? It's a shame they don't allow you to check by sms/online login like the other carriers. Do you think they would refuse to tell you if you called Customer service? I really don't want to go over my cap but I also don't want to underspend by $200 for example and then waste that credit. Oh it is great from the carriers point of view, but its a lot harder to manage call/sms spend compared to data on the iPhone.

Yeah I know that, its playing a guessing game with calls/sms that I'm not happy about.
