Just long enough for me to play with it a bit, then another charge so I can pay with it for a bit. And so on.
Yeah 2-3hrs should be right.

shouldnt you fully charge a device?
because the battery has a 'memory' or something like that.

The first part was a joke (no one else does that with their new gadgets? ), and 2-3 hours should be a full charge.
Although I don't think memory is a problem anymore.

All new mobiles have some charge in them, So you can set the phone to your liking. I would not see the iphone as any different. But if it happens to be that way then oh well. We waited this long for it few more hours will not kill you.
Oh who am i kidding yeah it will.

My sincere apologies if this has already been asked, I'd hate to be one of those that continues the cycle of the same 4 or 5 questions being asked over and over and over (wash, rinse, repeat)
I have been with Telstra since I got my first mobile 8 or so years ago, but am now going to latch on to Optus. I am not totally sure about the plan I am going to go on, but was wondering if I initially sign up for the cheapest of my options, can I "upgrade" to another, more expensive plan, during my contract lock in period?
I know that some rules may be different with the iPhone-specific plans, but have Optus customers been able to do this in the past?

Just as batteries got better I suppose. I know my iPod touch hasn't had that problem, even though I didn't charge it the 'proper' way.

I can't see why not. Most telcos would love for there customers moved to a higher plain. More money for them....Just don't downgrade. They love you for paying more, but hate you for paying less.

My store is opening at 7AM for everyone supposedly. They didn't mention deposit holders when I rang up to reserve one.
They said that they expected an email on Thursday to tell them what stock to expect (I'll ring back tomorrow), and their shipment will arrive at about 6AM Friday.

If you go up that's fine I believe, it's just going down attracts a fee I think.

I don't think moving to specialised subsidised deals counts.
I could move from my $49 Cap to a $79 Cap for free if I wanted, but I couldn't got to a $79 Cap with a Free N95 for 24 months for free.
At the VERY least, you'll need to pay off the phone.
