Virgin & 3G iPhone?
Where do Virgin stand, or not, with the 3G iPhone?
I have always been a Nokia user, and I am very happy with Virgin for normal voice plans.
So if I was to consider a 3G iPhone and wanted to stick with Virgin, what, if anything, would I be missing, or having trouble with?
I am thinking if Vodaphone, Telstra, maybe 3, and Optus, in particular Optus, since Virgin use the Optus network, then Virgin should be okay for the 3G iPhone, I would hope, or am I dreaming?
TIA.

Its not official yet but keep an eye out. Telstra jumped in long after WWDC so i'm sure Virgin might.
Again, we don't know anything yet, only that the official Carriers selling iPhone 3G will be Optus, Vodafone and Telstra and only Telstra's plans are known.

VMA is owned by Optus - I'd assume that for the initial little while, Optus will be keeping it to themselves.

By the time July 11 comes around, I wouldn't be surprised if all carriers get the iPhone.
Optus, Vodafone, now Telstra have all sealed the deal, let's wait for Virgin and 3 to jump on board most likely in the week ahead.
What's stopping Virgin getting the iPhone?....nothing.

Apple could be stopping them, as they don't have enough stock of iPhones. So could Optus who don't want Virgin to take their profits.

Optus DOES own Virgin mobile. Virgin operates at the lower end of the market, consumers only (it's OK for me). I imagine Optus will keep a flagship product like the iphone to themselves until it becomes pretty mainstream, and then they will let virgin at it. But who knows?

Do we really need this many carriers? The more carriers, the less stock that goes to the companies to sell, forcing many people to wait weeks for their phone.

one word as said above... COMPETITION!!
who cares if people have to wait a while, as long as people are getting a good deal in the long term thats what matters.
remember your entering into a 2 year deal by buying one. I dont know about you, but if the deal aint good I aint getting one.

I am hoping to use the 3g iPhone on Virgin - $30 cap + $15 for 1gb data will be perfect for me.
Probably just get an optus prepaid (and pay unlock fee if virgin sim happens to not work) unless Optus announces good value plans.
