The new plans are crap. Nothing good about them whatsoever. The only way Telstra can redeem themselves is by ATLEAST offering their cap plans on the iPhone. Otherwise the only other sane thing to do is by it outright, in which i might do but i will have to wait til after tomorrow if stock goes .

They look real but hoping to god they aren't. The data usage is insane.

Does anyone know how the Telstra Wireless Hotspots will work?
Will you just pick a hotspot from the list and it recognises you from your Sim Card, or will you have to log in with a username and password?
I've used their hotspots before on a laptop and the web login interface is appalling.
Anyone on Telstra with a 1st gen iPhone?

It will probably be a log in, no one would be able to tell you as you couldn't get free WiFi with the 1st Gen iPhone.

but seriously 5MB ??????, I feel like its a way for telstra to say "screw you" to apple by expressing that the iphone isn't anything great so why should it get its on plans!

Today I received both the email and the SMS from Telstra.
I also spoke to the only Telstra store near me selling it tomorrow.
She only confirmed what other members have already posted.
No new plans - only the existing ones (plus free WiFi) they have been trained to encouraged everyone to sell a data pack as well.
No business plans - only consumer plans.... oh and NO you can't switch/upgrade to business plans if / when they release them without breaking contract!?!?!?!?
No pre-orders or names being taken on any lists.
No idea of how many they were getting, she had heard a rumour about 100.

Good point... I think you can get it if you have BigPond broadband, so if any 1st Gen iPhone people have that (unlikely, the bigpond plans are shocking!) they might know!

Hopefully once Vodafone and Optus have the rural coverage Telstra does they'll actually try and compete!
