I hope prices on the prepayed won't be that expensive then. Maybe $700-$800 on the 8GB I am guessing.

Well if you're voiding your warranty, jailbreaking, and all in all fiddling with things - you shouldn't expect the automated systems to keep up.

I think they just look at the user-agent and figure it out, since the iPhone is identifiable.

Of course this can be hacked with laptops etc like it was done for AT&T before.

That would be sweet. I am after an iPhone 3G outright purchase in the range of $599 to $799.

I assume this means that Vodafone/Optus plans with have to be a fair bit cheaper as there networks are so poor.

"Yes our network isn't as good, but our plans are cheap to make up for it" Maybe??

That is just my point, people can do this and therefore Telstra wouldn't want to give free WiFi to people. So therefore I would have to believe that there has to be a web sign in page.

Signing up to a Telstra's $30 plan is let's you get the iPhone for the price of an iPod touch.

Optus & Vodafone's tariffs are generally more competitive, in order to compete with Telstra, which has the advantage of wide coverage.

So, I, and I'm sure many of you, would predict that Optus & Vodafone's tariffs may be more attractive, and if you're a in a metropolitan area, you may be interested to seek these alternatives.

But, I have to say that Telstra's access to WiFi hotspots is definitely very, very attractive!

We're hoping to see what Optus and Vodafone has got to say! Come on, guys!

For $1000 over 24 months, I really can't go wrong - I was prepareing myself to pay $1000 outright - not with a plan a friggen FREE (as in beer) WIFI!

Cmon Optus - do this for your loyal :rolls eyes: customers!

Optus don't have enough to matter esp in the Melbourne CBD. They've pulled out of Gloria Jean's for one.
