I don't think the wi-fi is all that great, it is just annoying having to go in to safari and log in to the web interface. It wont just automatically work.

Nah, it works based off Mac addresses, the same as the Nintendo DS free-hotspot deal they've done. |

I'm quite sure it will. It will be ---> connect to wifi ----> see that person is using iPhone ----> allow connection -----> browse.

The trouble I have is that the Telstra pricing plans are nuts
Mobile Member Plan - Telstra
At those rates, its approximately 3 to 4 times more expensive than Vodafone to actually make phone calls (Assuming you are willing to commit to a $49 cap).
Thats just insane |

I don't if it would be like that for the iPhone though, you are able to change your MAC address, with jailbroken iPhones. AT&T use a web log in system, I can't see why they would do that if they could just use registered MAC addresses. |
