It's a guideline. They will be releasing their iPhone specific plans later. Possibly on launch date (GoS)

If only they would tell us officially which shops will have it!
That way customers can go to the shops that will have it - rather than get shitty if they are in shops that DON'T!
Come on Telstra! Get smart!!!

I think at this stage we all know that we can trust what a retail drone says about as much as we can throw them (i.e. not at all).

dont know if anyone else has spoken to anyone at telstra chadstone, but i was just told they will be opeing at 9am, they have a waiting list of about 20 people - who 'registered a month ago', but have only been advised of 10 iphones available at this stage. hmmm sounds pretty crappy.

The amount of misinformation out there by the sales people at individual stores is so much that it dilutes any real information that may be available - the signal to noise ratio is very low indeed.

i am starting to think that Apple have devised them a very smart marketing stratergy by making people think there will be a very short supply. Honestly, they saw how big the iPhone was last year, surely someone had the brains to go "So, it was huge in ONE country last year, the hype has been building, I think we will need lots more stock than anticipated".
Like someone on here said, its like the simpsons episode where something was in short supply, yet there was a room full of them in the background.

I don't put it past Apple to do it and I'm sure we have some Apple moles here creating more hype. I hope this is true but I surely doubt it and will still be lining up hours in advanced/doing all i can to make sure I get one on friday :P

I'm expecting that availability won't be as bad as it has been discussed here...I'm expecting it to be hype. There hasn't been any official statements from any of the carriers saying that availability will be an issue, and the lack of information (and contract details) is all organised by apple to increase the discussion and hype.
I'll be going to my local store (which has confirmed availability for me) on Thursday to discuss contracting options, and turn up 9am Friday to do the deal.

Somewhere on the Optus site/Email says stock will be strictly limited, and the CEO (or something like that) of Softbank in Japan said it's going to be very hard for even people in the company to get the phone.
Stocks are limited. Deal with it.
