Free WiFi totally changes the game.
I would go past at least 10 walking in any direction through the CBD, plus I love me some Star Bucks, so this is a brilliant announcement and totally unexpected.
Voda would have to do something incredible to bring me back to them.
(releasing their fucking plans wouldn't hurt).

Having the free Starbucks Wi-Fi, it would be good for business. Example:
Everday situation: walking down the street with an iPhone with no data, wanting to check MacTalk and have a coffee, almost going into some random coffee shop, then deciding to go to Starbucks for a coffee and some internet.
Does this make any sense

Yes it does. It also makes sense for McDonald's too.
Junk food + Internet.

Your posts often don't, but we're a polite bunch here.

Only thing that doesn't impress me about this is the part about Telstra putting all their crap on their phone. Some of the other phones like the Imate you can't take their crap off unless you do a complete ROM reinstall. That may mean having to unlock it again which means you'll have to get Telstra to unlock it at which point they will probably put all their crap back on it again.

TCO from what we know so far:
8GB/$30 plan -- ($30 * 24) + $279 = $999
16GB/$30 plan -- ($30 * 24) + $399 = $1119
8GB/$80 plan -- $80 * 24 = $1920
8GB/$100 plan -- $100 * 24 = $2400
16GB/$100 plan -- $100 * 24 = $2400

Just create a second spring board and move all their apps to it.
Done!

Yes why would you go on $100/month and choose the 8GB?

Visual Voicemail is still shown as a feature of the iPhone on the Apple AU iPhone features page, so I am thinking that we will get it here too, maybe not on each network! As discussed before, do Optus and Vodafone even have the systems to provide Visual Voicemail?
