Another reason why the Australian figures are actually not so bad is that they include all taxes and we don't have separate activation charges (unlike America). Don't think these factors are included in NeoRicen's table (too difficult to do in the case of taxes, they vary from state-to-state in the US).

And, also don't forget Americans pay for outgoing & incoming calls. So, the phone company is actually getting paid twice for the one call.

Updated with US prepaid prices*.

*I am calling outright prices prepaid and vice versa, because they're both not on a contract and are basically the same thing.

Italy still have to give prices. Probably come at the same time as us, whenever that will be.

Not so true with the sms. Some plans let you receive sms for free as you should.
What a backwards country the US is

Nah. Internet Explorer shows a broken image link. Firefox shows no picture at all.
(I can't use Safari 'cos I'm at work)

I take it back - looks like a firewall problem at my end. I noticed that the picture URL is pointing to photobucket - and guess what - the b*stard IT people here at work have "Websense Filtered" photobucket access!
I'll have to use logmein.com to access my iMac at home, to bring up safari and browse the forum that way
Sorry for the drama!
