Ok, Added Total Cost of Ownership.
Australia has the second best, behind Hong Kong, and Canada has the worst.
Interesting to note is that the country with the best upfront cost has the highest Total Cost of Ownership, and the country with the highest upfront cost has the lowest Cost of Ownership.
Keep in mind than even though Australia does very well on that list, the plans could end up sucking a LOT, so it may not be worth it. Only time will tell.
So you don't have to go to first post if you jumped straight to last page:

It would be good to eventually see calls and data usage like you did before to see the real cost of ownership.

Mate - that is awesome. Truly is. Gives us a real overall representation of the costs and plans. And yeah, we really have nothing to bitch and moan about. Think of the poor Canadians. LOL.

+1 really great work, and since it is safe to assume that Optus and Vodafone's plans will be more competitive than Telstra's in terms of cost and value (but not coverage), it looks like for once we are not actually going to be totally screwed relative to the rest of the world.

I'll be doing that when plans are announced for local carriers, I've got a Numbers document with empty tables and graphs just waiting for data.
I probably won't bother putting all international plans into it though, because that's just too much work.

Yes, that is my hope too. Vodafone and Optus tend to be more competitive (ie. cheaper) than Telstra's plans. So we will have to wait to see just "how low they can go!"
