Will there be cheper OZ plans for non 3G areas

Are there situations in any of these countries where people wont be able to use the 3G network?

I live outside of the 3G coverage area from Vodafone and Optus, which means I wont get the speed which makes the iPhone so useful.

Any thoughts?

Stiff shit essentially - the iPhone will work, albeit at GPRS speed

I've been told by my sister that Vodafone Australia's pricing will be out on July 2.

Good point, ok fingers crossed Optus release their plans tomorrow!
I think whoever releases their plans first, the other carrier will very soon follow.
I am kind of hoping that Vodafone will have the better plan though.

I've said for the longest time (at least a week) that the carriers were going to wait until the next financial year, ie July. This is because:

o There's a bunch of end of financial year deals they want to move. Naturally they won't want iPhone people to feel like their prices are lousy in comparison.

o Phone carriers have to sell so many units per quarter. If people knew an awesome phone was coming out next month at the same price, people would wait.

July 2 is the rumour for Vodafone, which makes sense, right after the financial year, more than a week until release. I wouldn't expect Optus to be much different.

PS: Adding Telstra to first post.
