Why bother, we already know it's going to be on prepaid in Australia, which is exactly the same thing as those Italy prices. Either way you're going to have to unlock it.

Great idea. Thanks for the post.
I hope that our minimum data amount is more than 100MB. I will be looking for 1GB, or higher depending on price.

Yeah you're right. I'll cancel the trip.
Seriously though, I misread it all. I'll suss it all out when we have the facts, and get one either abroad or here depending on pricing - either way, the way things are panning out, you are kind of fucked if all you want is to buy one outright and just stick your existing 3G business sim card into it and go. So so many people in Australia already have the appropriate 3G card and plan for work, and this whole locking bullshit is going to put many off.

This is the point I was trying to highlight.
Great Topic though mate - and it will be interesting to watch it update as more countries plans are announced...
Keeping the thread factual / actual / official is a good idea - which is why one of your other comments threw me... as [locking/unlocking/jailbraking etc] isn't known.

Great rundown Neo... I recon we'll be paying $600 odd for the 8GB on Prepaid and $750-800 for the 16GB. Lets see what happens...

Popped this on the front page
Like I said in the front page post, this is the more informed guess as to what we will pay. $399 for the 16gb model upfront and a $69/month contract sounds right to me.

If it's going to cost that much, I'm going out and buying myself a Nokia 6300.
I only pay about $15/month on Prepay as it is.

I don't think it will be quite as much as Italy for prepaid. I think it will be around $750ish for the 16g model. This could be me just hoping though

Those rumoured Optus plans are looking a little better aren't they? Believe it or note, they were actually quite competitive.

let's see if Optus release the new plans on Tuesday, since a lot of their post paid promo offers end on Monday...

I do feel for them Canadians. I think they got the raw deal. Yeah, them 'leaked' Optus plans actually sit right in the middle. Still a rip off, but I guess they have a business to run. lol. Shame for us.
