I would imagine that if the Apple Store are going to sell it as a dealer for any/all of the Telco's that they would get in on this action, though I don't think we have any confirmation yet. Also, will the Chadstone store be open by then?

I asked at an Optus store today, they said that the George Street (Sydney) store would be having a midnight opening. Of course, could be just another healthy does of FUD.

Nobody knows, AT&T in the US were getting all ready for an 8am launch, before Apple stepped in and announced the time as 6pm.
Whatever the time is, it will be up to Apple, and since Apple hasn't said anything. anything the telcos tell you is what they think they're doing, not necessarily what they will end up doing.

Try to get in before it creeps too far up King Street. Just around the corner is fairly comfortable.
