This should be posted in the Optus iPhone Speculation Thread.

I didn't pay the deposit (due a distinct lack of credit card), so will there be any point lining up?

Seeing as I work at Chadstone I'll try and get a shift that night so I don't have to leave. Just a quick walk to the line.

But the people who did pre-order have to be there at the time. How would they work this though? If you have ever been to Disneyland, they should work it like the FastPass scheme - For every 2 FastPass holders, one norman member of the public goes in. Or set aside some iPhones for norman people and another batch for the people who pre-ordered.

Why should the French get special treatment

I can see a number of the larger stores having a midnight opening for the publicity. However, if they can't guarantee that those who have paid a deposit get an iPhone on the day then it will backfire spectacularly.

Of course they can't guarantee that ever one who pre-ordered will get an iPhone, as they don't know where you will be picking it up from. The pre-order system should have required you to nominate a store to pick it up from, then they could have guaranteed you got an iPhone.

Guys, you'll get one, stop your bitching and moaning.

Optus didn't guarantee a phone, just priority placing. It's obvious with a new product that the demand will exceed the supply, use your brains, you can queue, or you can wait until it's available at Apple

So what of us with the deposit... huh?
(Well, Optus will already have the interest from the deposit, so I guess they couldn't care less at this point).

If we in Australia are going to be sold the new iPhone on the 11th we will probably get them earlier than the rest of the world due to gmt

6pm @ AT+T

Everybody is talking of the 11th, we may have to wait till early morning 12th. Just a thought.

Regardless, I plan on lining up at the large Sydney Optus store on George Street. Unfortunately I did not reserve a phone. Hopefully I can still get one....

I think I will queue if I can be sure of getting one and the plans are abysmal.

I cant see Centre Management coming to the party opening up Chadstone so Optus Chadstone can flog a couple hundred iPhones. I would be even more surprised if any stores were alloctaed even 100 iPhones

Just remember - until it's on Optus.com.au or Vodafone.com.au - it's all unconfirmed.
