Yeah I think i'll line up at the Telstra shop if they have stock available. I called them last week and they werent sure if they were getting any in for the launch day. So if they dont i'll be heading down the Melbourne probably to the t-life store in the city.

I think it is very important that when one accuses another of being stupid that the accuser doesn't have any spelling/grammar mistakes in their posts.

Hey guys who is lining up in Adelaide??
I am still trying to decide whether I get in early at one of the CBD stores and fight my way through the crowds without my deposit... (wearing my leather jacket... ) or if I head out to one of the low key suburban stores who probably won't get any where near as much stock but won't have (hopefully) as many people waiting at the door step....
Hmmm what to do, what to do...

I want to queue up (maybe just for an hour or so before opening).....but I am wondering if Geelong stores will have stock or if I should go to a store in the Melbourne CBD.

I've just got off the phone from Telstra and they said that they have ordered 20,000 iphones for the 1st month. The guy said they didn't forsee any problems in getting them. They don't even make the iphone available to their Business customers until the 22/07

I just got an email from New Wave Systems in Burwood (Vic) who says they will be selling the iPhone as a Vodafone reseller. They didn't say whether they would have stock on July 11 but will "contact you shortly with more information".
If they do have it on day one, that's one very quiet, out of the way reseller. Might be worth keeping in mind for eastern Melbourne folk who plan to go with Vodafone.

That is not many people, so being optimistic, I think there will be plenty of iPhone love to go around.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE

And lots more are waiting to see what the deal is. No opening times have been published by Optus, Voda still haven't confirmed plans nor have Telstra except their snippet about the $30 plan and $80.
There's still more pieces to the puzzle before most people make up their minds I think. I'll possibly head down at 12:01 if a suitable store is open (I'm working Thursday night till 10:30pm so that works nicely for me) otherwise, the store closest to my day job will suffice at 7am on the Friday morning.
Wait till announcements are made, then people will vote more accurately I suspect

Think about it...
3 Carriers... a multitude of plans Apple do not want this in their store with people clogging the place for 15-20 mins per customer.
for further proof just look at the Australian website
"where you can get the iphone" - the US website says Apple Stores... the Aust website links to the 3 carriers.
I would say that is concrete!

Actually, given the missed targets Apple followers have made using Apple's own documentation, I would say it isn't concrete.
You're willing to say that the Apple store will not market the iPhone at all? Their flagship product?

They'll market it, they won't sell it.
In NO other country besides the US is Apple selling the iPhone in their own stores.

I've picked out my Vodafone store of choice and they are letting me know if they are opening before 9am. I've already let my boss know I'll be in late on Friday :P

As NeoRicen said market - yes! Sell it ABSOLUTELY NOT!!
There are too many reasons why not.....
Lets start with
1/ No mention on the website. (if you need any more evidence after that we do have problems)
2/ In Australia there is currently only 1 store - (with no where near enough staff) and the iPhone is being sold by all 3 major carriers... who are Apple going to sell it for/on behalf of?
2.a/ How long does it take to buy a phone in Aust? Last time I bought a phone (there) it took well over 20 mins. Apple doesn't want that kind of mess in the Shops... shopping in Apple is meant to be a pleasant experience... buying an iPhone on Jul 11 will be anything but a pleasant experience.
3/ Even in countries where there is only 1 carrier (ie Japan) and most major cities have Apple Stores - Apple isn't selling the iPhone... why? because they lack the infrastructure and they don't want to install it.
and I could go on and on... (Id be willing to bet that even in America with the system that goes into effect on Jul 11 Apple doesnt even want to be selling it).
Changing the topic a bit
The best solution I have heard of for making this easy was to do everything online, or in advance get a piece of paper with a barcode on it.. come in on the day with some ID (Drivers licence) and paper and pay then.
I dont think that there is any question that Jul 11 is going to be a nightmare in many places. I have no idea what is happening in Japan... nobody will tell me.
