<Edit> Righto, link works now. 300 Collins it is. I had a feeling it might have been that one..

Would it be safe to assume that Optus store staff are annoyed at lack of an announcement of plans or at least this being divulged to them? I'm sure they must get a few people every day asking about plans and stuff, and not being able to tell them or put up a sign or something must be a little frustrating.

I got an insight today into how little these staff actually do know about what's happening. I was told today by 2 different Optus store staff that only Optus and Vodafone were selling the iPhone. Telstra was not. When I told them that Telstra had infact announced PLUS announced some plan details I was met with incredulous looks. Priceless.

What's the bet those snacks won't be the same ones you have on the day?

I'm thinking George Street will end up being where I camp out, in front of the Apple Store of course....

I know we dont know for certain yet, but surely Optus will not want the sort of back lash they will get if they completely ignore the people that have paid a deposit (especially Optus customers)
We have home phone, internet and 2 mobiles with them and if they do just throw the phones in the air for them to land where the may, and I miss out as a result I will certainly move my business

The only reason Optus was taking money was to offset the cost of buying an unproven-in-the-australian-market inventory of expensive devices.
Thats my guess at any rate.

went to an optus dealer today..asked him that i made the $50 payment..for advance queing.
anyways..he told me Friday 7am...will be the time...for those that made the payment.
which makes sense since 9am is the normal start of business hours..(remember it said 2hrs before anyone else)
to bring would be ID and the receipt...
guys u must remember mainly for Applefanbois (am one) and geeks...the iphone does matter.
but for ur normal J6P that has a mob he couldnt give a @#@ bout it...
and am sure Optus knows this...
Also remember...out of the thousands that made the payment $100 or $50....
how many would actually want one given the high cost of owning one....
am sure a vast number of those that made the payment initially though the iphone would be around $350
