This smacks of desperation.

Apple doesn't simply want to sell more phones. They want larger slices of the telcos profits on voice and data charges.

Apple aren't doing this anymore as far as I know - they're just selling stock direct to the telcos, leaving it up to them to set prices.

I've signed the petition in solidarity to my fellow Three Mactalkers. Would never go with them personally (coverage reasons), but none the less you guys need the support. Let's just hope that Apple listens and doesn't just "talk to the hand" on you all

If three gets the rights to sell the phone i hope their mobile packages will be competitive, it's time for Australia to cheapen their mobile data rates. I would really never go with them though unless there is some sort of ridiculous pricing difference, will stay on voda.

I don't really see how this will make any difference. It's more than likely just a huge marketing ploy. I'll sign it anyway though.

The more carriers that end up offering the iPhone the better as they'll all try to outdo each other in offering the best deals.

Naturally.

I'd imagine that the people who've been calling Three about the iPhone have been told they wont have it then have asked the question telcos don't want to hear: "how much would it cost me to terminate my contract?".

I'm with Three and I hope they get the iPhone but if they don't I'll be calling to ask how much it would cost to terminate my contract.

The only reason im not sure id stay with 3 if they offer the iphone is because i dont want to have to watch if im roaming before i use data and it would also mean i couldnt leave mail collecting mail because i could get screwed over by roaming data

So only two carriers going to have the phone well thats just great they will have it at ransom. Massive plans big costs I'm already thinking of not bothering with owning one.

I really hope things get sorted out because this could belly flop in Australia with expensive call rates.

Online petitions are like pissing in the ocean.

When was the last time an online petition worked for anything?
