Boycott APC

I think we should write a Colum on 10 reason that APC should Shut down.

I have had a problem with that magazine for years due to there byased comparisons when comparing apple products to other machines...

I remember one article where they compared a Power mac G5 with celerons made by Dell, HP etc.. is it a wonder that non Mac owners think that Apple are expensive.

personally, although i'm a big fan of the iPhone, coming up with "it sucks" isn't a very clever, thought out rebuttal.

Thanks Decryption, you've provided me with 20 reasons why I shouldn't feel bad that I can't afford an iPhone.

What can you do for my insatiable desire for a 24" fully maxed out iMac?

Buy a proper GPS system and leave it in your car. The maps on all the other devices blow anyway (Nokia I'm looking at you) - Google Maps or the Melways are the only good maps, period. Again, this sort of functionality can come from a third party - TomTom already have one in development that looks fantastic (link to ArsTechnica). Alternatively, ditch that car and use public transport, walk, or ride a bike. Cars are evil.
Heck... even Google Maps aren't that fantastic.

Recently, it told me a doctors' surgery was an entire suburb away from where it actually was... AND... decided to guide me over a traffic island that's been there for years.

I say get a sense of direction, know where you want to go in the first place and - more than anything - learn the art of patience.

I hear it's a virtue.

Showtime

Video recording is simply a software feature. I don't know why Apple didn't include this, but they didn't. But don't fret, if a 3rd party app doesn't come along and add this, I will eat my hat and put it up on YouTube with a Nokia N95.

There already is a video app for the iPhone. It is called Showtime and you an get it using the installer app. It allows 5 second clips to be filmed until you pay for a key but that gives you enough to try it out

However, my third party telco said to me today that if I can buy one outright I can use it with them (Southern Cross Telco)...but no 3G of course.
At the moment, nothing except Mail/Address Book/iCal on Mac and Outlook on Windows will sync with iPhone automagically.

Apple is gaining a lot of traction within IBM lately, so support for Notes may come soon. Same with Novell Groupwise. 3rd party solutions may also come about before official support.

At the moment however, it won't sync

I have taken over 800 photos with my iphone camera and love the majority of them. It's so easy to use and even my daughter can flick through the gallery and play around with it... she never cared for my blackberry like that!

I have about 5 phones sitting in various drawers from a Sony Ericson M600i to a Nokia 6280... since using my iphone i dont think if i combined all the best features of the other phones into 1 that i would still go back to them.

There is no doubt the iPhone has its limitations and its flaws... but i also couldnt tell you when Sony Erricson or Nokia last did a software update for my phones that improved overall functionality and added new features.... That gentlemen is why Apple's iPhone is a step ahead of the others..... (as far as i am concerned)

I really appreciate Anthony's honesty in his:
"10 Things That Actually Do Disappoint About iPhone"
and on top of the price of the phone/plans, some of those 10 items are almost deal-breakers for me.
