The only reason I may not get one will be due to plan pricing... Only time will tell if I fall under this category....

Does that count as constructive? It's still a valid point

Work supplies my (Optus) sim card, so until the Optus prepaids are out and I can replace the supplied sim card with my own, I'd have to carry two phones with me.

EDIT: Or an outright purchase, independent of a carrier...

Seems to me like you don't want it is because it lacks a lot of stupid (yes, utterly stupid), Japanese-only rubbish together with the fact you're a cheapskate to the point you can't appreciate the wonder that is the iPhone.

No-one bags the iPhone without a fight from me!

I'm not getting one coz I already have the 1st gen that still works fine... The new features of the 3G iPhone doesn't impress me enough to justify an upgrade... I'm waiting for a 32GB to be released

I'm a poor uni student who likes flashy gismo's, but cannot afford a overpriced mobile with several other relatively redeeming qualities,

I mean, especially with the cost of internet via 3G, not to mention the fact that i'll scratch, bump, chip & drop it from a considerable distance within minutes - but it'll make me look out of touch with the common folk.

You didn't include me hating on the carrier....

actually as I said those Japanese features are cool.. but it is the carriers contract and cost that is the primary reason... if I could get it for 8000/month I would jump on it.

If DoCoMo get it.. later in the year.. I will probably get it.

I might suddenly get reasonable and sensible about the whole thing and realise that I'm not using my mobile a lot now, and probably won't use the iPhone much after the first 3 weeks either.

I may then decide to wait a while and see what apps come out, or even wait for the gen 3 model (with drag'n'drop ).

Cheers
Steffen.

I'm getting one. The only reason I wouldn't be would be because of plans, but since my upper limit is $80 I think I'm pretty safe there.

Oh man, no emoticons in my email is a deal breaker for me too.

Also the fact there's no where to hang plasticky lucky charm things. I mean really.
