They don't come in the colour I'd prefer.

And on a 24 month plan, that is a cost that keeps costing, for 24 months.

I general I try not to buy consumer products that are in fierce demand.

The other reason is I find the touch screen keyboard to be flawed: I have to continually switch attention between the keyboard, and the resulting text. It's good to visit my wife's iPhone, but I couldn't use it full time yet.

My current phone is a Palm Centro, which to be honest, feels like Windows 3.1, compared to the iPhone. But I like the keyboard, the usable calendar, and the todo list.

I can see myself using an iPhone in the future: When the platform matures, when the price drops, or if I received one as a gift.
You have SOOOO left this message open for your wife to read, haven't you?! Sneaky bugger!!

Just not sure have a 16gb touch and really can't justify the iPhone on top. Though I could get the 8 gb as it won't really be my iPod. Plan cost comes into it also.

I am concerned how much I might use the internet on the iPhone and what will be in the plan.

These decisions keep me awake at night.

The only reason I wouldn't get an iPhone is if they are just too hideously expensive. If the carriers force an outright purchase for example. I guess we'll find out in the first week of July what the prices are like though.

Apart from that I love the device.

My boss and my students are probably sick of me weighing the pros and cons...

They probably will be happy that I made a decision.... and they might get some sleep tonight. I'm going to somehow have to explain to a lot of students why after July 11 I dont have it... after all the lessons based around it....

I guess that they could market that as the fun & sexy plan! Not sure if you are intentionally being funny but it made me laugh. I think it's much more likely that you'll get the networks idea of a fun and sexy plan... and it will leave you with an area that looks a lot like a Japanese flag!

The only reason I'm not getting one is that I have a blackberry through work and it'll mean going back to carrying 2 phones around. As much as I hate the blackberry, there's no way my employer will allow use of the iPhone on our network, so I'm stuck with it.

I'm trying to convince my partner to get one though, which I'll of course treat as my own.

Many reasons:

- I won't buy anything I can't buy outright
- already have a phone (Morotola 3688+) that does what I want from a phone (send & receive text, make & accept voice calls)
- allergic to wifi (I can't use an iPod Touch, either)
- I want a tablet Mac instead

I can only get Telstra Next G reception where I live so until Telstra come to the party I'll just have to wait and want.

I'd like to get an unlocked one so I can use it on Telstra. Living in Tasmania, I'm not getting 3G from anyone else. Damn them.
I've bought two smartphones outright for a thousand bucks (as a poor student) so a thousand dollar iPhone is perfectly fine, and much better than everything else I have.

But yes, if I can't use it on Telstra (blerg) then I'll be hard pressed to justify getting a 3G phone. Although the allure of a totally unlocked iPhone with straightforward updating is a nice thought...I'll just make up my mind come the 11th I think, or at the very least when the plans are revealed.

Several reasons:

- Won't buy a phone unless I can buy it outright
- On a corporate phone plan (Telstra) that offers really cheap phone calls - too good to give up
- Bought a new phone recently
- Already own a touch

If anyone buying the 3G iPhone that already owns an original, and they want to sell it, I might be interested (3G nor GPS doesn't particularly interest me, plus the original iPhone was built to last!!!).

I'll be waiting for 32GB me thinks. 16GB means only 3/4s of my music library.
