iPhone pricing released at Sydney opening?
Been thinking about the lack of pricing and plans and I am thinking Apple wants to keep it back for the opening to add some Buzz to that.
Might even open pre-orders at the same time.
I just can't believe the carriers wouldn't know exactly what the plans will be as it would have been part of their contract negotiations (Apple would want it locked in as if they are to expensive it will impact them)

Doubt it, no need to tie the two together. Since it's not going to even be on sale at the Sydney store announcing pricing won't do anything. Also, Apple doesn't need buzz for opening a store.

Yeah I agree with NeoRicen. They're not even selling it at the Apple Store (that's crap).

Apple Store - Sydney - Grand Opening
iPhone 3G? I doubt they'll even have it on display. Unless they plan on redirecting customers to the shady Optus shop down the road or something...

With respect if you don't need buzz for an opening you don't have a press only preview the night before so they all run story's on the day to create buzz

It was probably information regarding mobileMe as that appears to be the only thing announced at WWDC resellers are going to sell.

Listen to the podcast, was pretty interesting.
*Damnit, i'm still waiting for a .xml feed for these podcasts.*

Like Huy said, it's highly doubtful that pricing will be released on top of the opening, it'll be too much on the one plate (not only for media, but Apple too).
Plus, wouldn't it be partly the responsiblity of Optus and Vodaphone to release their plans? Aren't they the carriers?
Expect news a week or two after the opening.

Are you guys kiddin'? There'll be most of a floor devoted to iPhones at the Aussie flagship. Doesn't matter whether they sell them, this is THE hot Apple item of 2008, their whole third platform. Mac. iPod. iPhone/touch.
I don't believe for a moment that they will let this one slip. My money is on the new store having people lined up to buy and activate in there as the FIRST store in the World (remember our time zone advantage) to sell the 3G iPhone. 9AM July 11. With a line out to Town Hall, media everywhere. And 16 hours to use that hype and QuickTime gold before the US release.

The floors consist of this:
Floor 3 ------------- Genius Bar
Floor 2 ------------- Sales
Floor 1 ------------- Showcasing of products
Macraptor seems to have it right here, but I don't see why he needs to be typing in a way that seems to be arguing against nothing.

Yeah ... they are selling the iPhone in Japan through the apple store either...
I suspect that unlike the earlier rumour the iphone will be locked to the respective carriers....
apple/carriers will not accept unlocked handsets floating around.

I thought they just have a cardboard covering the box.
Anyone to clarify this?

Cardboard? Huh?
The iPhones come in shrink wrap and it is a great box (I've unboxed one of course ).
It is similar to the MacBook Air in that you get a very strong cardboard box, with a bit of padding, all wrapped in shrink wrap/clear plastic.
