People are cheering? Innit just the iPod Touch that's going to have a pay firmware upgrade?

That was certainly the case when the iPhone was on revenue sharing... however 3G isn't - so who knows what's going to happen.

Surely only the original iPhone will require the upgrade? The new "3G" iPhone will have it already loaded, I would have thought.

Eeep wandering off topic... in answer - firmware upgrades will always happen I'd guess. I think my iMac has had 2 or 3, my iPhone has gone through loads.

So what's to stop Apple wanting to upgrade the 3G iPhone at some point, especially if the dastardly unlockers get their hooks into it? There is less of a problem for Apple as it's no longer their revenue stream being affected. But the networks may still have something to say.

My argument is that yes you can email photos but unless our data plans are good there's no way I'll be sending them and then what about everyone else that doesn't have iPhones or Blackberry's? They can't see your photo's if you email them...

Thoughts??

I don't care of MMS or other useless stuff like the one phone companies offer on mobile phones (like ringtones download). Really... that is just useless.
I appreciate what the iPhone has and I'm happy to buy it as it is. Sorry 4 that!

As a novice I've just watched the Keynote Pres and reckon that it's going to make every other phone on the market second rate. If it doesn't have the feature you're talking about, surely it offers at least an alternative if not something that does the job even more completely. They've probably ignored it because it's antiquated.

Wow, I'm really surprised that not only are a lot of you saying you don't use MMS, but you actually wish it was not available to you. I send phone pics quite a bit though. Mainly snaps of the kids' to my sisters and parents. I also email pics from my computer but I like being able to send a photo if I'm out and about, knowing my family will get it straight away and more often than not I get a reply or phone call soon after. Sounds like I'm an odd bod!

I'm another MMS non-user. Had it as an option for years, never made use of it, nor received one, except for a couple of times when I had to go to a website anyway. Waste of time.

But I'd also be happy if they took out the 2MP camera and replaced it with no camera at all.
