Three + iPhone (questions)
Hey guys!
I along with many others on here are with Three, and we loooove Three! I heard something along the lines of the company in Singapore who is associated with Three over here will be getting the iPhone...
Is that true?
Does that hold any hope for the people on Three in Aus?

People tend to forget that Three is one the first carriers in Australia to implement the 3G networking... and people most of the time only think about Telstra, Optus and Vodafone.. which is stupid...
Now Peterz.. The last of the rumours I've read/found out about, is that Three are very interested in the iPhone (execs were testing them out on their network), and also 3 Hutchinson will be rolling out the iPhone in Hong Kong/Macau.
I'm on Three as well.. I read the technical specs, and the fact that it'll support the USIM, will well.. It'll bloody work on Three

Yes, 3 got the phone in a couple of Asian countries. The fact they got deals there and haven't made an announcement for Australia makes it much less likely they will get it.
Also, do a search first, this is far from the first time this has come up.

Yeah, but 3 still suck coverage wise. There's a reason why they're cheap.

yes and no...i have had 4 different handsets and all give me different reception...motorola was a joke and sony ericsson has been the best and now i have a nokia which is just as good . But in terms out going out bush i know it isn't that good at all. but if you are in the CBD areas $40 for 2gb of data plus 4000 minutes of skype is a awesome deal

Guess it depends where you live. Reasonable coverage in Sydney and outskirts.

But don't Optus and Voda suck coverage wise as well?
(legit q, just what I've heard from colleagues)

Optus and Voda have a thread, so let's have a Three thread!

Optus coverage is awful in my experience... and have used it for a good 6 months.. I've sent a General Enquiry email to them about the iPhone.. and how I found out that it's going to be released in other parts of Asia..

Can't be as bad as 3. I had a 3 phone when I lived in Melbourne CBD next to Melbourne Central. It would always have 'Roaming' on it and failover to GSM. Considering I was in the middle of the CBD in a small apartment complex, not a huge built-up one. I was shocked I couldnt even get their coverage there.
That sealed my decision not to use them. Optus coverage has been nothing but excellent in CBD and metro areas for as long as I've used them.
2c, mine.

I do not think they will get it...
Steve said in the Keynote, the carriers for the 70 countries have signed on the dotted line already.
And 3 having it elsewhere in the world means nothing... that is like saying because Vodafone has it in Australia, they will also be getting it in the UK etc

What if I put my 3 card into one of the new 3G iphones?
That is an unknown, unlike the fact that you can't get it to work with the current iPhone.
I am on 3 in the county and roam on Telstra constantly, I am waay from a 3G network but I still love the plan I am on with 3 mobile.
