When I put my SIM into my iPhone (1.1.4 firmware) it does not read the SIM contacts or SMS messages stored on the SIM.

I had to create the contacts in Address Book on the Mac and resync them to the iPhone. Safe option is to write down all of your numbers first before you lose them. That, or just get everybody to ring you once your SIM is inside the iPhone. Then it'll come up in the call log and you can create new contacts through the iPhone.

This may have changed since the last time I tried, (September 2007 when I first got my iPhone).

For my own selfish reasons I hope it's not released until late July if it's not subsidised, I want it to come out when I actually have the money, so I don't have to go down the street looking at spoilt 12 year olds with something I want! :P

Why would anyone make a new thread about this when the news around the net has been the release of the new iPhone on June 9th? Wait a few days, if it doesnt get released...well..tough luck I guess.

IIRC, firmware 2.0 includes the functionality to copy SIM contacts to the phone memory.

In Australia and some other countries (Spain comes to mind) the stronger rumours suggest a release closer to the 19th.
