How about an app that turns the iPhone screen into a touchpad for your mac! A mini screen could appear with controls on it but very much a mini wireless control device

I could be wrong but I think that I've seen this somewhere.
Sorry can't remember where.

It's called "Touchpad" it's in installer - not sure if you need special sources like the community to get it.
Mobile Pages App - that enabled you to create a edit basic documents
Exercise Logger - with graphs - sync with a desktop app
Expense App - i know there is already some but that are not exactly what I am looking for
Fuel Tracker - once again I know there is one but it's not that great and it is in miles not km
TramTracker - for the melbourne trams
ASX sharetracker - something a bit more advanced than the stock widget
Aus Movies App - with sessions times and trailers - put in your local cinemas
Full Home Automation Remote - with like a 3D house picture and you zoom in and see the items you want to control and tap on them to bring up there options or view live feeds of that area of the house
Real GPS guide - with voice directions
Car Mode - You plug it in to the dock port on your dashboard and it becomes for entertainment and phone center
TV Guide with recording options
Uni Organiser - Subjects, Results, Assignment sync with computer app
To do list - sync with iCal

Location aware ToDo list....
"Oh Hai, I see you are near work. The location-based ToDo list now contains things you can do while you are at work."
Someone will write it. I'm trying, but my Cocoa hasn't got much past 'Hello World' yet.

I like this idea very much - it would be so practical!

A BLOODY TO-DO LIST WITH REMINDERS
Seriously...biggest omission ever. I still can't believe Apple left out such a glaringly-obvious requirement. iCal already has support for it, and syncs reminders with numerous other phones that've been out for years.

NIKE SPORTS KIT FOR IPHONE!!!!!
Physics/Chemistry forumlar dictionary calulator thingy.
Biology Phylogeny with all intermediate fossils with a short discription etc.
Also I would like a feature for .mac/me that if I lose/stolen my iphone I can go on the website and remotely accesses the new gps function to find out exactly where it is. If google maps says its out somewhere in the western suburbs its been stolen and I give the address to the cops and they can go retrieve it for me.

Take a photo of anything, all the text inside the photo is automatically translated to your preferred language.
(Not original, Nokia has demonstrated this on the N95)
Visual Wikipedia search. Take a photo of something, 5 related Wikipedia/ Google search results come up.
(Again not original idea, nice to have, i haven't seen this in action)
Song Recognition. Let iPhone hear music for 5 seconds, give back name of track and link to iTunes store.
(On many phones today, a couple of years ago there was a phone number in Australia that did it - was great)
Sports Tracker
(An exact copy of the Nokia Sports Tracker would be great. Google It)
Activity Monitor
(An exact copy of the Nokia Activity Monitor would be great. Google It)
AppleTV Remote Control
(Searching for Youtube videos is painful on the AppleTV)
AirTunes
(Let me play music wirelessly to Airport Express and AppleTV)
-
Some of these rely on the iPhone having a 3 or 5 MP Autofocus or Truefocus camera. It would be nice to have a xenon flash or at least an LED as well.

I want to see the iPhone connected to my Mac via bluetooth. The screen then turns into a numeric keypad which I can use in conjunction with the wireless keyboard.

The possibilities are endless and not particularly difficult to build:
Geotagging Time Machine
Where was I last saturday at 6pm ? Imagine how cool the interface would be - a map with the Time Machine interface going back through time. Easy to build (if apple allows background apps)!!
iPod song geotagging
What music was I listening to on my iPhone when I was at the beach last weekend?
